The Historic March 7 was observed in different districts in befitting manner on Saturday. Different organizations chalked out programmes to observe the Day. Our correspondents and agencies report:
Barisal Correspondent reports: The historic 7th March was observed in Barisal on Saturday demanding implementation of capital punishment to all war criminals and calling to reject and prevent activities of anti-liberation forces.
The programes of the Day included flower tributes paid by lawmakers, leaders of the political parties of Awami League- led 14-party alliance and socio-cultural fronts at the alters of the portrait of father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The district Muktijodha Sangsad also arranged discussion program of the freedom fighters at the Muktijoddha Sangsad Bhavan premises on this occasion.
District and city units of Awami League organised a meeting at Sohel Square in afternoon with Mohammad Hosain, district AL vice president in the chair.
The meeting addressed among others by Advocate Afzalul Karim, Advocate Gias Uddin, Advocate Laskar Nurul Haque, and MG Kabir Vulu.
Speakers of the programmes said that BNP-Jamat called blocked and hartal ignoring the consciousness of our independence to save the war criminals. However dreams of the anti-liberation forces would never be fulfilled.
They called participants of the programmes to resist anti-liberation forces at all fields and called the government for speedy implementation of the verdicts against war criminals.
Gopalganj Correspondent reports : The h istoric 7th March was observed in Gopalganj in a befitting manner on Saturday.
The day’s programme began with placing of wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at district Awami League office.
Besides, national and party flags were hoisted in the party office. Local Awami L ague leaders including vice president of district Awami league Adv Abdul Halim and Adv Atiar Rahman and Joint General Secretary Mahbub Ali khan took part in the programme.
Later, they went to Tongipara and placed wreaths at the mazar of Bangabandhu Shiekh Mujibur Rahman and offered fateha there.
A discussion meeting was also held at the hall room of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Degree College. Prof Abdus Salam presided over the discussion meeting.
BSS from Rangpur adds: The historic March 7 was observed everywhere in Rangpur division befittingly on Saturday with a call for building a secular and developed ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The district and upazila units of Awami League (AL), Chhatra League, Juba League, Sramik League, Swechchasebak League, Krishak League and Awami Ainjibi Parishad, socio-cultural and professional bodies chalked out programmes to observe the day.
The programmes included hoisting of the national and party flags, placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu, paying rich tributes to Bangabandhu and four national leaders, colourful rallies, discussions on significance and importance of the day.
The epoch-making speech of Bangabandhu on this day at the Race Course Maidan, now Suhrawardy Uddyan, in Dhaka in 1971, was also played in all district and upazila headquarters and important places as part of the daylong programmes.
In Rangpur divisional city, the main discussion meeting was organised at the party’s district unit office in Betpotti area with acting president of district AL Mamtaz Uddin in the chair.
District AL General Secretary Adv Rezaul Karim Raju, its city unit President Shafiar Rahman Shafi and General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal, senior AL leaders Shameem Talukder, Advocate Anwarul Islam, Rafiqul Islam Dulal, Motahar Hossain Mowla, Tauhidur Rahman Tutul, convener of district Swechchasebak League Moazzem Hossain Lablu and district Chhatra League President Mehedi Hassan Ronny and its General Secretary Rakibul Hassan Kanon, among others, took part in the discussion.
Highlighting importance of the day, the speakers vowed for building a razakar-free Bangladesh through ensuring trial of all war criminals and foiling all conspiracies being hatched by vested quarters against the country and its people.
They urged the people for forming a rock-solid national unity in spirit of the War of Liberation for building a middle income Bangladesh as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to make independence meaningful for every citizen.
They called upon the pro-liberation forces to keep stronger vigil on the present situation as some vested quarters have engaged all-out efforts to destabilise the country through creating anarchy, violence, hurling petrol bombs and killing innocent people.
Similarly, the Day was also observed in a befitting manner in Kurigram, Nilphamari, Gaibandha, Panchagarh, Thakurgaon, Dinajpur and Lalmonirhat districts under Rangpur through daylong programmes amid huge enthusiasm.
