Police on Wednesday arrested Rakesh Roy, a district unit leader of Bangladesh Jatiya Hindu Mohajote, in a case filed under the ICT Act with Jakiganj Police Station for posting derogatory comment about Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (pubh) on social media site Facebook.
Sub-inspector Sayed Imroj of Jakiganj Police Station said police arrested Rakesh from Lalakhal in Jaintiapur upazila while trying to enter India illegally around 7:00 am.
Fujayel Ahmed, a leader of Chhatra Jamiat, filed the case against Rakesh Roy, Sylhet divisional secretary of Hindu Mohajote, on Monday afternoon under section 57(2) of the act, said Habibur Rahman Hawlader, OC of the police station.
Rakesh posted a comment on Facebook degrading Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (pubh) few days back.
