Highest number of Covid-19 deaths, infections in a day: 46 die, 3,471 infected

Bangladesh on Friday reported 46, the highest ever deaths in a single day from coronavirus infections, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said it.
 “With this, the death toll reached to 1,095 and the death rate at 1.34 percent,” said Professor Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration) of DGHS, said in a regular press briefing in the capital.
Dr. Sultana said, total 3,471 have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.
With this, the total number of infections in the country is now stands at 81,523, she said.
The DGHS official said, 15,990 samples were tested in 59 laboratories across the country in the same period.
She said also, 502 coronavirus infected patients have recovered and released from different hospitals across the country since Thursday, taking the total number of recoveries to 17,249.
Bangladesh has reported its first Covid-19 infection cases on March 8 and announced first death from the virus on March 18.
