Bangladesh on Wednesday registered 19 people died in a day from the coronavirus infection which is the highest over a 24-hour period, raising the death toll to 269.
“A total 1,162 people detected to infected with the coronavirus totaling the number of infection to 17,822,” said Professor Dr. Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), in a daily online bulletin on the COVID-19 situation in Dhaka.
It was the highest death and detection of coronavirus infection in a single day so far.
Dr. Sultana said that another 214 patients were released from hospitals in the same period, bringing the tally of recoveries to 3,361.
The DGHS official said that total 7,900 samples were tested in 41 labs across the country since Tuesday.
