BSS, Lalmonirhat :
High quality stones and stone chips have been found in the Dharla River bed during piling for construction of a bridge.
Zahid Hasan Mondal, assistant engineer of LGED, told BSS that they discovered the high quality stones and stone chips about 40 feet under the river bed recently.
Navana group, a private firm, is constructing the second Dharla bridge at a cost of Taka 200 crore which will connect Lalmonirhat with Fulbari upazila of Kurigram district.
The construction company made their design for piling up to 45 feet below the river bed for constructing bases of the pillars. “We found a strong layer of stones before reaching that point,” he added.
“I hope these stones will be used in different development works of the district in future and bring economic development,” Zahid said.
