The Indian Express :
A high alert has been sounded across the nation with security being beefed up at busy public places and markets in the wake of the terror attack in Punjab.
“We have briefed our officers and men to be vigilant and watchful in the wake of Punjab incident and an alert is being maintained,” PRO of Delhi Police Rajan Bhagat said.
Security was specially stepped up at railway stations in the national capital and deployment of policemen has been strengthened further. Meanwhile, a rumour of firing close to Parliament House kept the cops on tenterhooks in the morning.
However, it was later found out that the panic was caused by a loud noise from a motorbike at Vijay Chowk.
Delhi Police officials said that there was no firing near Parliament House rather it was just a rumour.
UP: Alert was also sounded across Uttar Pradesh in the wake of a terror attack in Gurdaspur district of Punjab.
“All divisional commissioners, district magistrates and police chiefs have been directed to ensure patrolling in sensitive places and ask local
intelligence units to remain alert,” Principal Secretary (Home) Devashis Panda said. They have also been instructed to ensure checking of crowded places like cinema halls, malls, bus and railway stations with the help of anti-sabotage and bomb disposal squads, he said, warning that no laxity will be tolerated. “District administration has been made responsible for maintaining communal amity and law and order,” he said.
