Hi-Tech Park plays a revolutionary role creating young entrepreneurs: Hosne Ara

Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, an autonomous body, is playing a revolutionary role in creating young entrepreneurs since its inception. The authority has already completed tow hi-tech parks, Janata Tower Software Technology and Sheikh Hasina Software Technology. Other 26 hi-tech parks are under going to come in true. The person behind this huge activity is Hosne Ara, Managing Director of the authority and secretary of Ministry of Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology, shares her some plans with The New Nation how to make achieve its goal. New Nation: How many ways has Hi-Tech Park overcome to achieve its goal?
Hosne Ara: Hi-Tech Park Authority is becoming anchorage of Bangladeshi young entrepreneur. I am hopeful that no young IT professionals will come in the capital for job after 2021. Meanwhile, the work of two high-tech parks Janata Tower Software Technology and Sheikh Hasina Software Technology has ended. There are several allocated organizations started work there. Besides these, by 2021, Bangladesh will earn $ 5 billion by export per year is the government’s plan. To achieve this target, the authority has taken its plan and is doing the work also. Our main goal is to create new entrepreneurs; not to construction the multi-storied building.
 New Nation: What is the significant success of the authority since its inception?
Hosne Ara: On 30th April 2013, I had started my new job as Managing Director of the authority. From that day I have already passed four years. The government has appointed me again as MD of the park even after the expiry of my regular job. In the last four years, IT Training and Incubation Center and IT Park is establishing in 28 areas all over the country. Moreover, we have declared 12 private IT farms as software Technology Park. Our notable works are: (1) Sheik Hasina Software Technology Park, Jessor: It is inaugurated on 10th December 2017 and built with all modern facilities where 33 KV power sub-station, fiber optic internet line and other modern utility services are attached here. There is employment scope of 5 thousand people in it. (2)Janata Tower Software Technology Park, Dhaka. It is inaugurated on 27th July 2016. 40 startup companies have taken spaces by free of cost. 800 persons are working in it. (3) Bangobandhu Hi-Tech City, Kaliakoir: It is being built on 355 acres land. There will be large data center (200000sqf) among the world. (4) Bangobandhu Sheikh Mujib Hi-Tech Park, Rajshahi: It is being built on 31,6296 acres land where 14 thousand people will work here. (5) Hi-Tech Park, Sylhet(Sylhet electronics city): It is being built on 162.83 acres land where 50000 employment will be here. It will be completed within December 2018. (6) Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Center: 17500 persons will get IT training through this project. The activities of this project will be completed by December 2019. (7)IT/Hitech-Park in 12 districts: This is big project where 60 thousand young will get professional training. (8) Chittagong Engineering University &Technology IT Business Lab and Incubation Center. (9) Khulna Engineering & Technology University ICT cum Training Center. (10)Sheik Kamal IT Training and Incubation Center, Natore. (11)University specialized Lab: There will be specialized lab in 9 universities. 12) Declaration of private firm as software technology.
New Nation: Is there any fund crises do you face to implement your plan?
Hosne Ara: No, there are no fund crises to implement our plan and project. The prime minister is very positive to it.
New Nation: What is condition of foreign investment here?
Hosne Ara: Well. We invite the investors to come to Bangladesh. When we call 10 people, one will work. The one who works, it will be the work of 100 people that will be the work of thousands of crores. Hi-tech park authorities are now working on promotions. The government has made a budget of 10 million taka for high-tech promotion. Many foreigners have shown their interest to invest it.
New Nation: Are you hopeful that you can finish the job in your time?
Hosne Ara: Yes, I am hopeful that Bangladesh will be the next IT hub in Siuth Asia with my tenure.
