A high-technological park enriching the information technology will be built up at Karnaphuli char area , adjacent to Shah Amanat Bridge on northern bank of river Karnaphuli .
Ministry of Information and Technology will provide financial assistance for the proposed H-Tech Park.
Following the requisition of land by the Land Ministry , Chittagong district administration started preliminary survey of land in the silted land of Karnaphuli river. After survey of the land, 90 acres of silted land traced in the proposed zone, a district survey department sources said.
The survey report of the char land will be sent to the concerned ministry by this week said Revenue Deputy collector Md. Ruhul Amin.
It is learnt from different sources said a number powerful influential syndicate grabbed these char lands by making plots, handed over to third party on possession sale. Local sources said centering the possession and dispossession of occupied char lands, clashes are broke out frequently.
Moreover these char land areas turned into a drug prone area and den for anti-social activists.
Mentionable that the competition of grabbing char land begins from 2008 and utter competition enforced after beginning of capital dredging of river Karnaphuli.
In connection of grabbing these char lands, a press conference was held at Chittagong Press Club on March 15 last, where influential Rohingya national Jassim was blamed for occupying a huge land of the Karnaphuli char.
The influential Rohingya gang turned the areas into a den of unsocial activities, drugs & gambling business, the press meet alleged. Kanungo of Chittagong Sadar land office Hamidul Hoque said there are huge khas land in these silted areas and one plot of 90 acres on east side of Shah Amanat bridge which is also grabbed by the syndicates.
He said a report of complete picture of these silted land with area map has been sent to District ad ministration aimed at forwarding to the concerned ministry.
After approval of the Hi-Tech Park by the govt as well as the land ministry over this proposed land , these unauthorized possession will be evicted , he added.
