Hi-tech park implementation can enrich software technology: Speakers

Implementation of the proposed high-tech park in RajshahI within a shortest possible time could be the effective means of enriching the local software technologies which is very important for bolstering overall economy, speakers at a public consultation here viewed on Tuesday.
They mentioned that there are enormous potentialities of establishing software Technology Park here as it has a number of higher seats of learning and other relevant resources. District Administration organized the consultation styled “Environmental Assessment of Rajshahi Hi-tech Park” held in the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner. Taking part in the open discussion, officials from most of the line departments and institutions concerned pressed suggestions in favour of the park.
Joint Secretary of ICT Division and Environmental Expert of Hi-tech park project Billal Hossain attended and addressed the meeting as focal person with Kazi Ashraf Uddin, Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi, in the chair.
Additional Deputy Commissioners Ataul Gani, Parvej Raihan and Md Shalahuddin, Assistant Commissioner (ICT) Sadia Jerin, Deputy Director of Department of Agriculture Extension Dev Dulal Dhali, District Fisheries Officer Golam Rabbani and District Livestock Officer Nizam Uddin also spoke.
Various possible ways to intensify the ongoing process of setting up Information and Technology (IT) Village / Software Technology Park (STP) in Rajshahi city were discussed during the programme.
Billal Hossain said the present government has declared “Vision 2021” with a target to make Bangladesh a middle income country by using ICT and developing a favourable business environment for innovative companies. “ICT has been considered as a thrust sector.”
