Victorious West Indies skipper Shimron Hetmyer gave all credits to his team mates for their maiden ICC Under-19 World Cup victory over India.
After the match Hetmyer said: “I feel good, word can’t explain how good it is. We weren’t supposed to be champions but we came up to top. The pacers used the pitch to their advantage, they stood out for us. Carter and Paul are aggressive players, they made the adjustment”.
West Indies coach Graeme West said: “We gave a couple of easy wickets away. Credit to the Indian bowlers, they fought back brilliantly”.
“The team played an entertaining cricket. Paul was looking for a six to win. That is how we play.”
Losing India skipper Ishan Kishan said, “The bowlers bowled in the right areas. The fielding was good in the beginning, but we dropped crucial catches. It was difficult to bat, but we were used to these conditions.”
Man of the match Carty in his immediate reaction said: “It was very enjoyable. We performed very well.
It is a very good feeling. We work together …… we hope to take West Indies back on top where we were.”
