Members of RAB-13 Rangpur camp have arrested two drug dealers along with 3 kg and 800 grams of heroin worth Tk 1 crore. Reza Ahmed Ferdous, commander of RAB-13, said this at a press conference at RAB-13 head office in Almannagar area of Rangpur city on Wednesday afternoon.
The RAB-13 chief told a news conference that a team of RAB-13, CPC-3 company set up a check post at Bairi Harinmari area of Palashbari upazila of Gaibandha district on the Rangpur-Dhaka highway on Tuesday afternoon and started searching various vehicles. The suspects searched a truck and recovered 3 kg 600 g of heroin. The estimated value is 1 crore rupees. A truck used for smuggling heroin was also seized. The arrested are- Md. Al-Amin (22) and Md. Eye (20). They are both residents of Rajshahi district.
Two drug dealers were arrested in the incident. Although they were truck drivers and helpers by profession, they were dealing drugs under the guise of transportation. The truck used for transporting drugs was seized during the operation.
Reza Ahmed Ferdous, commander of RAB-13, said that during the preliminary interrogation, the two detainees had confessed to their involvement in the drug trade for some time. They were often supplying different types of drugs from Rajshahi to different areas including Gaibandha and Rangpur. A case was registered against them at Palashbari police station under the Narcotics Act.
