Members of Rapid Action Battalion arrested three people, including driver of the bus, along with one kilogram of heroin from a passenger bus in Bottoil area of Kushtia on Friday.
Tipped off that drugs were being smuggled in a Khustia-bound bus coming from Chuadanga, a team of Rab-12 intercepted it in the area and seized one kilogram of heroin worth Tk one crore from inside the toolbox of the bus, said Major Rabiul Islam, company commander of Rab-12 Kushtia camp, at a press briefing on Saturday.
The elite force also detained bus driver Sohel Rana, 32, son of late Patal of Mirpur upazila of Kushtiaits supervisor Thantu, 36, of Fakirbad Nowdapara village of Kushtia and helper Sagar, 22, son of late Azizur Rahman of Halsha Khejurtola village in this connection, said Robiul.
A case was filed against them in this connection.
