Henolux owners lured victim Gazi Anis to invest crores: RAB

Gazi Anis, a businessman who set himself on fire at the National Press Club in the capital recently, was tempted to invest by Amin Manufacturing Company (Henolax) Managing Director Md. Nurul Amin and his wife and director Fatema Amin.
RAB Director of Public Relations and Media wing Khandaker Al Moin said this at a press conference in Kawran Bazar on Wednesday.
Following his death, police on Wednesday arrested Henolux Group Managing Director Md Nurul Amin and his wife Director Fatema Amin for abetting suicide.
According to RAB, Nurul Amin and his wife lured deceased businessman Gazi Anis and convinced him to invest
 Tk1.26 crore in the company. Victim Gazi Anis met Nurul Amin and his wife in 2017 and they gradually formed a friendship. In 2018, they had gone to a neighbouring country for treatment and staying at the same hotel.
 At that time, Nurul encouraged the victim to invest in Henolux Group,” said the senior RAB official.
Out of respect for their relationship, they did not have any official agreement. Even after the victim (Gazi Anis) kept requesting the accused to prepare an agreement they kept delaying,” he added.
At one point the accused stopped giving the profit and also harassed and threatened the victim. Currently, the accused owe the victim over Tk3 crore including profits.
In a bid to get his money Gazi Anis filed two cases with a Kushtia court. He also held a media call at National Press Club on May 29 over the matter and on May 31 posted on his Facebook wall, seeking the assistance of his friends.
According to the case documents, the day he set himself on fire, the accused were supposed to pay him. However, when he called them, they declined to pay.
Angered and frustrated, he went to the National Press Club on Monday and set himself on fire. He succumbed to his injuries the next morning.
After the incident, his older brother Nazrul Islam filed a case with Shahbag Police station.
The victim, Gazi Anis was contractor by profession and worked at a telecom company. He later quit the job and started a car dealership in Kushtia.
Meanwhile, at the very beginning, the accused Nurul Amin worked at a company named Kader Homeo Hall for 15 years starting in 1998.
In 1991 he established Henolux Group. Later the name was changed to Amin Manufacturing Company under which products such as Henolux Complexion Cream and other cosmetic items were manufactured.
In 2019, they started another business by the name Amin Herbal when the demand for Henolux fell in 2009. In 2016 they shut down Henolux for good.
