Entertainment Report :
The Government of Bangladesh and the Government of India are jointly producing a film based on the biography of the Father of the Nation of Bangladesh, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Shyam Benegal from Mumbai, a renowned biopic master, has been chosen as the director to make this biopic.
The title of the film Bangabandhu is based on the biography of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. In the biopic, Jannatul Sumaiya Heme, the contestant of Miss World Bangladesh, was supposed to play the role of Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh and also daughter of Bangabandhu. Heme’s name was also in the list of artists of Bangabandhu movie announced by the Ministry of Information. This time it was learned that a new actress is coming to portray the role of Sheikh Hasina instead of Heme.
Heme herself stated the matter. She confirmed the matter giving a status on the Facebook at night of January 17.
She wrote on her post, “It is with great sadness that I am no longer associated with Bangabandhu’s biopic project. After auditioning, I was selected to play the role of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. It is the dream of all actresses to play such a big character. It was unimaginable that the dream would be shattered in an instant.”
While talking in this regard with Mohammad Hossain Jamie, line producer of the Bangladesh part of Bangabandhu, said, “I have been associated with this movie since November 2020. I haven’t seen Heme’s name since then. So I don’t know how logical it would be to say that he has been left out. I can’t say anything about it. Those who have been with the subject from the beginning and those who have spoken to Heme will be able to speak well about it.”
Meanwhile, the shooting of the first phase of the movie will start from January 25 in Mumbai, India.
On January 19, several filmmakers are travelling to Mumbai to take part. After completing all the works, the movie Bangabandhu will be released in Bangladesh and India this year.
