A memorial lecture on the life and works of Prof Dr Helal Uddin Khan Shamsul Arefeen was held at Professor Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium of DU.
Dr. Zahir Uddin Ahmed, Professor of Department of Anthropology at Jahangirnagar University (JU) on Tuesday gave the memorial lecture in honour of prolific anthropologist Prof Dr Helal Uddin Khan.
Addressing the programme as chief guest, DU Vice Chancellor (VC) Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman said that late Professor Helal Uddin was a student- friendly, honest and ideal teacher.
He said, “Dr Helal was a truthful person. He led his entire life for the development of education and research works of the country.”
Paying rich tribute to the late academician, the DU VC urged the students to follow the ideology of Professor Helal to be a good human being.
Professor Sadeka Halim, Dean of Social Sciences faculty of DU was also present at the programme as special guest.
