A Dhaka court has placed Hefazat-e-Islam Nayeb-e-Ameer Professor Ahmed Abdul Quader on a five-day remand in a case filed over rampage in the capital eight years ago.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate on Sunday passed the order after the investigation officer of the case produced him before the court with a ten-day remand prayer.
Earlier on Saturday evening, Quader was arrested from Agargaon in the capital. He was arrested in two cases filed over the vandalism and arson attack at Shapla Chattar, Motijheel on May 5, 2013, and recent violence centering the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bangladesh visit.
Quader was the former central president of Islami Chhatra Shibir. He is also Secretary General of Khelafat Majlish, a member of BNP led 20-party alliance.
