Detective Branch of police on Thursday night arrested Hefazat-e-Islam’s central leader and Khatme Nabuwat Andolon Bangladesh’s President Nur Hossain Noorani (54) from Munshirhat area of Munshiganj Sadar upazila.
A seven-day remand was sought against him after he was produced before a Munshiganj court around 10:00 am today. The court later set April 26 for hearing the remand and sent him to jail, reports our Munshiganj correspondent quoting police.
“DB men arrested Noorani from his residence. There are allegations against him for instigating of chaotic environment during strike called by Hefajat,” Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Minhazul Islam told the media.
Meanwhile, Hefazat leaders have claimed that its Dawah Secretary Maulana Nazmul Hasan Kashemi was arrested by DB police from his Uttara home in Dhaka. However, DB has not yet said anything about his arrest.
