The much-awaited hall council is going to be held tomorrow (Sunday) after an unusual delay of five months. Centering it, there are hectic lobbying by the students for accommodation in the hall committees.
General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League and Road-Transport and Bridge Minister Obaidul Quader will be present at the council as the chief guest.
BCL, DU unit, is arranging the hall council for the first time creating superfluous dimension among the leaders and the activists. Every hall is considered to be an upazila unit.
Meanwhile, the president and the general Secretary aspirants for every hall unit are busy to lobby with the influential leaders of the Awami League and the BCL in order to get recommendation. They are active to show their activities.
On June 18 in 2015, Abid Al Hasan and Motaher Hossen Prince took over the charge of president and General Secretary of BCL, DU unit, for one year. Their tenure expired on June 18 this year, but could not contribute to the formation of the new committees.
BCL General Secretary Zakir Hossain said, the candidates who have good image and have no link with crime will be selected as president and general Secretary. We hope that eligible candidates will spring for leadership.

Ziaur Rahman Hall: Yousuf Uddin Khan, Sagar Ahmed, Abdullah Al Masud Limon and Nazmul Hossain.
Jashimuddin Hall: Arif Hossein, Al Masud Sajib, Shamim Abdur Rahman, Altiful Islam Nipul, Shahidur Rahman Shahed, Asif Joarder, Robiul Islam and Kawser Ahmed.

Among the aspirants, Mahedi Hasan Taposh, Asif Uddin Ahmed, Rakibul Islam Oitejja and Mizanur Rahman Pikul of Salimullah Muslim Hall were fired for torturing journalist on 14 April 2013.
On the other hand, Russel Ahmed Tahsan and Asif are engaged with taking and selling drugs. Tahsan, Oitejja and Pikul raise money from tea vendors of Polashi Market. Bulbul Sheikh of Zahurul Haque Hall is an accused in murder case.
There is allegation against Golam Sarwar, Vice-President of Surya Sen Hall that he and some of his followers do not pay bills for meals at hall canteen and he was once connected with Chattra Dal.
Rashed Mahmud of Fazlul Haque Muslim Hall faces an allegation of drug connection against him in the Curzon Hall area. In January, he was arrested with drugs, but his followers robbed him from the Police. That time DU acting Proctor Professor Amjad and hall Provost Professor Harun or Rashid were present at the spot. For that incident, two cases were filed at Shahbagh Police Station.
