Hectic campaign to woo voters in Horinakundu UZ

Electioneering in Horinakundu upazila in the district has reached its peak as the aspirants are now moving door to door for votes in the election to be held on March 23.
The candidates along with their supporters are holding meetings at villages. They are also making different pledges to develop the upazila. Leaflets containing election pledges and candidate’s views regarding development of the areas are being distributed among the voters.
Specially, the male candidate are trying to convince the voters by alluring them for tube wells, VGF (vulnerable Group Feeding) card and assist in getting loan from banks, the voters said.  
Campaign by three rival female candidates, who are contesting for the post of vice-chairman reserved for women, is also going on in full swing. They are also attracting voters’ attention due to their communication skills and for being good orators.
Upazila election office source said, as many as 1,34823 voters are expected to exercise their right to franchise through 62 polling centres in the upazila.
Ten candidates are contesting in the March 23 polls. Of them, three will vie for chairman post, four for vice-chairman post and three for the post of vice-chairman reserved for women.
The chairman candidates are Md Robiul Islam (AL), Adv. M.A Mozid (BNP), Maulana AKram Hossain (Islami Andulon).
Vice-Chairman candidates are Sohidul Islam Silu (AL), Rezaul Islam (Jammat), Abul Hasan Master (Independent) and Kamruzzaman Polas (Independent).
Woman vice-chairman candidates are Mahmuda Akter Keya (AL), Salina Khatun (BNP), and Nasima Akter Maya (Independent).
