At last, the capital Dhaka welcomed rainfall on Saturday afternoon after the continued hot spell that battered the life of the city dwellers for the last few days. And the city dwellers heaved a sigh of relief following the sudden shower.
Some other parts of the country were also blessed with the sudden shower, which provided much-awaited relief to the people from the severe heat. The temperature dropped across the country following the rainfall.
Earlier on April 25, the city dwellers were blessed with another welcome shower after experiencing 40.7 degrees Celsius temperature in the city, which was the highest in the last 54 years.
According to Dhaka Met Office, the highest temperature 37.7 degree Celsius was recorded in the city on Saturday while lowest was 29.5 degrees. Country’s highest temperature 39.0 degree Celsius was recorded in Chuadanga and lowest 21.0 degrees in Dinajpur.
Dhaka met office forecast light to moderate rain at few places over the country in the next 24 hours beginning from 6:00 pm on Saturday. The temperature will fall further. Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at a few places over Dhaka, Barisal and Chittagong divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna and Sylhet divisions. Heavy to very heavy falls are also likely at places over Dhaka, Barisal and Chittagong divisions. Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Tangail, Rangamatia, Comilla, Maijdeecourt, Rajshahi, Ishwardi, Khulna, Satkhira, Jessore and Chuadanga and it may continue, according to the Met office.
Day and night temperature may fall by 1-3 degree Celsius over the country.
Meanwhile, the rainfall for about two hours in the city inundated streets in several parts in the capital, wreaking havoc on life and trade. Water logging was created in many streets due to the rainfall. The areas include Motijheel, Gulistan, Malibag, Mohakhali, Agargoan, Shyamoli, Khilgaon and Rampura.
