Hearing on charge framing against SQC’s wife, others adjourned

A Dhaka court yesterday (Wednesday) once again adjourned hearing on charge framing against BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury’s wife, his son and others in a case filed for allegedly leaking the draft verdict of a war crimes case that sentenced the BNP stalwart to death.
Judge-in-Charge Ataur Rahman adjourned the hearing. He, however, did not pronounce the next date of the case till writing this news story.
Earlier, Salaudddin’s wife Farhat Kader Chowdhury filed a time petition to defer the hearing due to her illness. Besides her, other accused in the case are her son Hummam Kader Chowdhurry, Salauddin’s lawyer Barrister AKM Fakhrul Islam, his junior Mehedi Hasan, and Nayan Ali, assistant to him, tribunal’s office assistant Faruk Ahmed and Salauddin’s manager Mahbubul Ahsan.
On October 30, Dhaka Cyber Tribunal granted bail to Salauddin’s wife and son. Accused Barrister Fakhrul, Faruk, Mahbub and Nayan were produced in the court from the jail during the hearing.
On August 28, last year, Detective Branch (DB) Inspector Md Shahjahan submitted the charge sheet of the case to the court under the Information Technology Act.
