The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka yesterday fixed January 27 of 2015 for hearing on charge framing against singer Arefin Rumi in a case filed by his first wife for marrying second time without her permission.
Magistrate Anwar Sadat of the court passed the order. Rumi’s first wife Lamia Islam Ananna lodged the case with the CMM Court on last April 30.
The complain of the case says that Rumi married US expatriate some Kamrunnesa on October 24, 2012, as Lamia’s family did not give him dowry following his claim.
On October 12 last year, Rumi was arrested with his brother SM Yasin from his house in Mohammadpur area of the city in another case filed by Lamia.
Besides, on August 10, Dhaka’s Fourth Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal framed charge against Rumi in a case filed by Lamia for claiming dowry of Tk 20 lakh.
