A Dhaka court on Sunday deferred the hearing on framing charges against Amar Desh Acting Editor Mahmudur Rahman in a case filed for publishing fabricated news to July 13.
Magistrate M Tasrujjaman of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka fixed the new date following a time petition filed by the defence lawyer Joynul Abedin Mejbah.
Earlier, jail authorities produced Mahmudur Rahman to the court on the day as per the court order.
On January, 2012, freedom fighter Major (retired) Shah Alam Talukder filed the case with the CMM
Court of Dhaka against detained Mahmudur Rahman on charges of defamation and publishing false news in his newspaper.
According to the case statement, Mahmudur Rahman was accused of publishing false news allegedly defaming BNP founder, also former president Ziaur Rahman and Bangladesh Army.
