Hearing on charge framing against Fakhrul, others now Dec 31

A Dhaka court yesterday (Monday) deferred the hearing on charge framing against 46 BNP and Jamaat leaders and workers, including BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, to December 31, in the case filed on charge of torching vehicles in front of the Prime Minister Office in 2012.
Magistrate Ataul Haque of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the order after the counsels of BNP and Jamaat leaders and activists sought time. Other accused persons include BNP leaders Mirza Abbas and Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Liberal Democratic Party President Dr Oli Ahmed.
On April 29 in 2012, Tejgaon Model Police filed the case under the Explosive Substances Act for torching vehicles and obstructing police from performing their duties.
On May 10 of the same year, the Investigation Officer of the case and Detective Branch (DB) Inspector Nurul Amin submitted the charge sheet of the case to the court under the Speedy Trial Act. Eighteen persons were made witnesses in the case.
