A Dhaka court on Wednesday deferred the hearing on charge framing against 46 BNP leaders, including the party’s Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, to October 27 in a case filed over torching vehicle in front of the Prime Minister’s Office in 2012.
Magistrate Mohammad Ataul Haque of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the order on Wednesday following a time petition.
About 36 BNP leaders, including Mirza Fakhrul, Standing Committee members MK Anwar, Mirza Abbas and Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, appeared in the court on Wednesday.
On April 29, 2012, Tejgaon Model Police Station filed the case under the Explosive Substance Act against the BNP leaders in connection with torching vehicles and obstructing police from performing their duties in front of the Prime Minister’s Office during BNP called countrywide shutdown on the day.
