A court of Dhaka on Wednesday deferred the hearing on charge framing against 23 BNP leaders, including the party’s Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee members Barrister Moudud and Mirza Abbas, in a case filed with Shahjahanpur Police Station for hurling crude bomb at police in 2013.
Metropolitan Magistrate Atiqur Rahman of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka fixed March 9 for next hearing in the case after hearing on a time petition, filed on behalf of the accused.
On March 20, 2013, Sub-Inspector Ruhul Amin Munshi of Detective Branch (DB) of police submitted the charge sheet against the accused.
In another case, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Ali Masud Sheikh of Dhaka fixed March 30 for hearing on charge framing against 74 BNP leaders and activists, including Mirza Fakhrul. The case was filed with Paltan Police Station for planning subversive activities during the shutdown of December 9, 2012.
On July 28, 2014, Sub-Inspector of Paltan Police Station, Abu Zafar submitted the charge sheet of the case against the accused.
Meanwhile, Dhaka’s Metropolitan Special Tribunal-2 on Wednesday granted conditional bail to Mirza Fakhrul in a violence case filed with Motijheel Police Station against 12 BNP leaders, including the Acting Secretary General. Judge of the tribunal, Jesmin Ara Begum passed the order. Besides, the tribunal fixed March 15 for hearing on charge framing against the accused people following a time petition submitted on behalf of the other accused.
Earlier, on December 14, 2013, a Sub-Inspector and also the Investigation Officer of the case, KM Azizul Haque submitted the charge sheet of the case against 12 BNP men. The case was filed with Motijheel Police Station for hurling crude bomb during shutdown in front of Habibullah Mansion in DIT Road area on December 9, 2012.
