A Dhaka court yesterday (Monday) again deferred the hearing on framing charge against 23 leaders and activists including BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir to September 3 in a case filed for vandalism and arson.
Magistrate Tarek Moinul Islam Bhuiyan of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the order yesterday following a time petition of the defence. Other accused persons include BNP Standing Committee members Barrister Moudud Ahmed and Mirza Abbas,
and Joint Secretary General Amanullah Aman.
The First Information Report (FIR) of the case says that on March 2, 2013, there were vandalism and arson attack in Shahjahanpur area of the capital during the BNP alliance sponsored shutdown, while Sub-Inspector Ashraf Ali of Shahjahanpur Police Station lodged the case against the accused. Later, on March 20 of the year, Detective Branch (DB) Sub-Inspector Ruhul Amin Munshi submitted the charge sheet of the case to the court against the 23 accused.
