A Dhaka court yesterday (Tuesday) fixed September 4 for hearing on charge framing against 46 BNP leaders and activists in an arson case.
Magistrate Ataul Haque of Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court passed the order following a time petition filed on behalf of the defence.
City’s Tajgaon Model Police Station filed the case against a number of leaders and activists of the then 18-party alliance, including BNP leaders Mirza
Fakhrul Islam, Mirza Abbas and Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed and Liberal Democratic Party President Colonel (Rtd) Oli Ahmed, hours after a vehicle was set ablaze near the Prime Minister’s Office at Tejgaon during hartal hours on April 29, 2012, under the Explosive Substances Act. The leaders and the activists were also accused of obstructing police from performing their duties.
