Barisal Correspondent :
Hearing of revision petition lodged by Henoara Begum, mother of Limon Hossain, challenging dismissal of case against six RAB personnel accused for maiming her son, deferred for the tenth time.
The case was on the regular- cause-list of the court on Sunday but the date was deferred as Advocate Golam Rasul Mannan, district prosecutor, appealed time for preparedness.
S M Sulaiman, district and session judge of Jhalakathi granting the time- petition on Sunday afternoon fixed the next date for hearing of the revision petition as November 20, 2014, said Advocate Akkas Hossain, lawyer of Henoara Begum.
Limon now studying Law at Gano Bishawbidyaloy will go to UK to attend a hearing about human rights violation at British Parliament scheduled to be held on October 28, Advocate Akkas informed.
Henoara Begum, mother of Limon, protesting harassment of the prosecution by procrastinating hearing of the revision petition, said she will continue her fight for justice against the six RAB personnel accused for attempt to murder, severe injury and maiming her son.
Limon was a college student who used to work in a brick kiln to bear his educational expenses and allegedly maimed by RAB shooting in the leg after taking him to a place adjacent to his house at Jamaddarhat in Rajapur Upazila of Jhalakathi on March 23, 2011, just about fortnight before his HSC examination 2011.
Henoara Begum tried to lodge a case against six RAB personals for attempt to murder, severe injury and maiming her son, with Rajapur police station after the incident.
But Rajapur police station at first refused to accept the case against RAB personals and later forced to register that on April 10, 2011 as per court order.
However police on August 14, 2012 secretly filed final report of the case lodged by Henoara claiming that they found no evidence and witness against RAB.
Then complainant of the case and mother of Limon filed ‘no confidence (Naraji)’ against the final report of police on August 30, 2012.
Jhalakathi senior judicial magistrate on February 13, 2013 rejected the ‘no confidence (naraji)’ prayer against acquitting six members of RAB accused for attempt to murder and maiming Limon.
Prayer of revision against rejection of ‘Naraji’ was lodged with Jhalakathi district and session judge court on March 13, 2013.
Hearing for acceptance of revision against rejection of ‘Naraji’ was first fixed as August 13, later on September 9 and October 9 and November 27, 2013 and January 15 and February 27, April 28, 2014, June 26 and September 28, 2014.
Mentionable RAB on March 23, 2011 filed two cases with Rajapur police station against the teenager and seven others under the arms act and another case for obstructing government duty, making attempts to murder and injuring RAB personnel.
Limon’s left leg was amputated from the thigh on March 27 at Dhaka National Institute for Traumatolgy and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) Hospital.
