The hearing on the charge framing against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia in the Gatco graft case was yesterday deferred to March 4.
Judge Abu Syed Dilger Hossain of Special Judge Court-3 of Dhaka passed the order on Sunday fixing the new date after hearing at his court temporarily set up on the Aliya Madrasa ground of Bakshibazar in
the city. On September 2, 2007, the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the Gatco graft case against Begum Khaleda Zia, her son late Arafat Rahman Koko, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer death sentence executed in a case filed with ICT and 10 others.
According to the case statement, there was corruption in awarding a contract to Global Agro Trade (Private) Company Limited (Gatco) for container management at inland depots in Dhaka and Chittagong.
