SB officer killing: Hearing of case deferred

A Dhaka court yesterday deferred the hearing of the case filed in connection with the killing of a SB officer and his wife to August 27, as none of the witnesses turned up in the court.
Judge Md Jahurul Haque of the Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court passed the order. They accused were brought to the court in the morning.
On August 18 last year, police recovered the decomposed bodies of SB Inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna Rahman from their Chamelibagh residence in the capital.
Later, their only daughter Oishee surrendered to the police confessing her involvement in the killing. Police also arrested her two friends Asaduzzaman Jony and Mizanur Rahman Rony and domestic help of the couples’ house Khadiza Akhter Sumi in connection with the murder.
On August 24 last year, Oishee made confessional statement admitting her involvement in the murder.
Abul Khayer, Inspector of Dhaka Metropolitan DB Police, submitted the charge sheet against Oishee and two others in March this year. Later, on May 6, the court framed charges against Oishee, Jony and Rony.
