Court Correspondent :
The Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka on Wednesday deferred the hearing of 11 cases filed with various police stations of the city against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia on various charges to September 2.
Judge KM Imrul Kayes of the court set the date yesterday at the makeshift
court set up in the newly-built building at Keraniganj Central Jail.
Khaleda Zia’s lawyers pleaded seeking time extension for hearing in the cases saying the High Court Division of the Supreme Court stayed the proceedings of most of the cases.
Of the cases, eight were filed with Darussalam Police Station over arson charges in 2015, two with Jatrabari Police Station on charge of making seditious comments about the freedom fighters and the number of martyrs of the Liberation War of 1971 and the other case was filed with Shahbagh Police Station.
