The health guideline and hygiene rules have to be executed in the book fair due to Covid-19 pandemic situation.
Those who will come to the book fair must wear the mask. There will be arrangements at the gate for hand washing or sanitizing.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime and Operations) Krishna Pada Roy told the reporter after visiting the Ekushey book fair on Tuesday.
He said that they had increased intelligence surveillance keeping in mind the past. We are monitoring whether anyone is committing a crime. We will take appropriate action if we get the information in time.
The Additional Commissioner said that they would take three levels of security. There will be CCTV and archways, as well as intelligence agencies and DB and plain cloth police.
There shall he specific entrance and exit path. Those who will come to the book fair cooperate with us. This security measure has been taken in the interest of all, he added.
The DMP official also said that this time we have added an additional entrance to the fair, through which one can enter through the Institute of Engineers or Shikha
Chironton Gate. Development work is going on the roads, so extra gates have been ready. This time some security measures have been changed. We will have mobile petrol as well as foot petrol.
Replying to a question, Krishna Pada Roy said that there is no threat of attack on book fair and publishers in this year. However, keeping this in mind, their various intelligence agencies are working. We are looking for those books that hurt people’s feelings and faith.
Due to the outbreak of coronavirus, there was speculation that Amar Ekushey Book Fair would be held virtually or online in Bangladesh in 2021. At the end, the book fair is starting on March 18.
