The Health Ministry on Monday suspended Afzal Hossain, the accountant of the Medical Education Department of the Director General of Health Services, on charges of corruption.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) was investigating the allegation against him on accumulation of huge illegal wealth, said the sources of the Health Directorate.

The ACC has also been interrogating the allegation against Afzal’s wife Rubina Khanam, Stenographer of
the ministry, ACC sources said. Recently two national dailies published reports on Afzal mentioning that though he was a fourth grade government employee, his five houses at Uttara, several plots and a house abroad were inconsistent with his income, said a letter issued by the Health Ministry on January 13.
Besides, the ministry also asked authorities concerned to carry out departmental investigation against him.
