Health Minister calls to hold weddings in limited forms in winter

Health Minister Zahid Maleque called for holding weddings and picnics in limited forms in the coming winter to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection.
“Winter is approaching. During the season, various events like weddings, picnics, waz mahfils take place, raising the risks Covid-19 infection for overcrowding. In such a situation, hold the events in limited forms following the health guidellines,” he said.
The minister was speaking at a seminar as the chief guest which was held at a hotel in Dhaka on Sunday.
The Health Minister said the second wave of coronavirus infection has already started in Europe and Amercia. “The Prime Minister advised us to remain careful so that the infection does not increase in Bangladesh. She also hails the successes of health department at every programme. It is her achievement. It’s the achievement of doctors and nurses. The success we have achieved only for their efforts.
I am just trying to serve as the minister. America and Europe are facing great difficulties to cope with the infection. But, Bangladesh is in a good position with its limited manpower and technologies in the health sector.”
With Professor Dr AHM Towhidul Alam, president of the Society of Surgeons of Bangladesh, in the chair, the seminar was also addressed by Professor Dr MA Aziz, member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Professor Dr Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam, Director General of the Directorate of Health, BMA President Dr Mostofa Jalal Mohiuddin, general secretary Dr Ehteshamul Huq Chowdhury, Swadhinata Chikitshak Parishad president Professor Dr M Iqbal Arsalan, general secretary Professor Dr MA Aziz and Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council president Professor Dr Mohammad Shahidullah, among others.
