Health Div gets Tk 200cr as emergency fund to tackle coronavirus

The government has allocated Tk 200 crore emergency fund to health services division for to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus in the country.
The finance ministry on Thursday afternoon informed the Directorate General of Health Services about the allocation.
It has allocated the fund from the unexpected expenditure management fund in the revised budget of 2019-20 for purchase of equipment, raise public awareness, buy chemical re-agents and to expand medical facilities as a preparation for the treatment of the coronavirus patients. However, some conditions have also been tagged to the expenditure. Details should be reported to the finance division on what sectors the money will be spending within 10 days. Besides, this allocation cannot be spent in any sector other than the proposed (coronavirus) sector.
Earlier, the government allocated Tk 50 crore to fight against coronavirus as the Health Service Division of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare sent a letter to the ministry of finance demanding Tk 100 crore allocation.
