Dumping newborn into Dustbin: Health Dept forms probe body

Health Department on Wednesday formed a two-member committee for investigating the alleged dumping of a newborn into a dustbin.
Civil Surgeon Dr M Azizul Rahman Siddique confirmed the news adding, “Dr Ashim Kumar Nath and Dr Pranab Chowdhury are the committee members.”
On Tuesday night, a woman gave birth to twin babies, a boy and a girl, at a private hospital named People’s Hospital.
The hospital authorities allegedly dumped the baby boy into a dustbin instead of handing over to the family members.
Later on allegation of the victim’s family members, police recovered the dumped body from a City Corporation dustbin.
Panchalish Thana SI M Azizur Rahman said, “Amena Begum (26) was admitted to People’s Hospital with labour pain where she gave birth to twin babies in the afternoon. Physicians confirmed them that the girl is alive and other is dead and dumped the body into a dustbin. However, the family members are suspecting that someone stole the baby boy.”
CMCH security guard ‘kills’ patient : A security guard of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) allegedly killed a patient on Wednesday morning.The deceased is identified as Abu Taleb,65, hailed from Sitakundo Upazila while the accused guard is Shah Alam. The alleged killer is now absconding. Victim’s son Rabbi said his father was a kidney patient and received dialysis at CMCH in the morning. “When I along with my father was leaving the hospital, Shah Alam forced us to leave hurriedly. At one stage he thrust my father on the floor leaving him dead on the spot,” added Rabbi.
