Badal Miah, 41, arrested earlier on charge of raping a college girl for 7 months, confessed to the crime during primary interrogation by law enforcers, Mohammad Mahbub Alam, Superintendent of Police of Tangail district on Saturday said.
“Badal Miah assured the girl of arranging marriage with her lover, took her to the isolated house at Ratanpur Kashem Bazar village in Sakhipur upazila. But he confined her to the house and raped for six months and 18 days,” the police super told a press briefing yesterday.
He said Badal used to keep the girl sedated all the time and continued to rape her. Earlier on Friday, Detective Branch of police arrested him from Kashem Bazar.
“An accomplice of Badal also used to provide food to the girl. Police are raiding different places to nab Badal’s accomplice,” he said. Badal used to identify himself as the organising secretary of Tangail district unit of ‘Bangabandhu Joy Bangla League’.
He did not even provide adequate food to the college girl which made her weak. He used to feed her juice, bread, biscuits and cake laced with sedatives.
On July 30, some children heard the screaming from the house while playing by it and informed it to their parents.
Later, locals rescued the victim breaking open the door when she looked very weak.
The victim was first taken to Sakhipur Upazila Health Complex where doctors referred her to Tangail General Hospital.
Following the incident, victim’s brother filed a case against Badal with Sakhipur Police Station.
