The High Court on Wednesday asked the Inspector General of Police to inform it what actions have been taken against the transport workers for their unruly activities including halting an ambulance leading to the death of an infant and smearing burnt engine oil on the face of drivers and students during their strike.
The HC bench of Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Razik-Al-Jalil came up with the order following a writ petition in the form of public litigation filed by Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Sumon.

The HC bench of Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Razik-Al-Jalil came up with the order following a writ petition in the form of public litigation filed by Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Sumon.
The HC asked the IGP to submit report within 15 days.
Besides, the court issued a rule to explain why directives should not be given to law enforcing agencies and the authorities concerned to take steps for preventing repetition of such awful activities in the name of strike.
Secretaries to Home Ministry, Road, Transport and Bridges ministry, IGP, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Traffic Police, deputy commissioners and police superintendents of Moulvibazar and Sunamganj districts have been asked to respond to the on the next date of hearing.
Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Sumon stood for the writ petitioner and deputy attorney general Mukhlesur Rahman for the state.
