UNB, Dhaka :The High Court on Thursday rejected the appeal of Awami League MP Abdur Rahman Bodi challenging the legality of the graft case filed against him by the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) for accumulating wealth beyond known sources.An HC bench of Justice Miftah Uddin Chowdhury and Justice Kazi Md Izarul Haque Akand turned down the plea on ground that it was not pressed. Talking to reporters, ACC lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan said the trial of the graft case will continue as the appeal has been trashed.Abdur Rahman Bodi’s lawyer Probir Haldar said, the HC had rejected their writ petition mentioning that it cannot be lodged against criminal cases.Earlier on September 8 last, Judge of Dhaka Special Court-3 Abu Ahmed Jamadar framed charges in the case as the accused failed to submit the wealth statement to the court within the stipulated time.The court also fixed October 6 for hearing the witnesses of the case.Meanwhile, Bodi’s lawyer Mahfuzur Rahman Likhon submitted a discharge petition to the court on Tuesday which the court rejected after the hearing and framed the charges against the accused.
