The High Court (HC) on Tuesday summoned the Chairman of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) and the Director of RAJUK’s Uttara Apartment Project to hear their explanation about a rule issued on contempt of court.
The HC bench of Justice Tariq ul Hakim and Justice Md Shohrowardi passed the order after hearing a petition.
The officials will have to appear in the court on August 12.
Advocate Salahuddin Dolon took part in the hearing on behalf of the petition.
He said, the respondents did not comply with the order of the High Court though they were given chances several times. So, a petition was filed with the court seeking order to summon them.
Sources said, 75 people were appointed in the project on contractual basis. Though the tenure of the project was supposed to end on June 30 this year, it has been extended till December 2020.
But the authority served a notice on June 3 saying that those 75 people would be exempted from the job after June 30.
73 of the 75 employees filed a writ petition with the HC challenging the notice. After hearing the writ petition, the HC on June 24 ordered the project authority to retain their jobs till the tenure of the project.
Even after the court order, the authority on June 27 terminated those 75 people from the contract. Later the writ petitioners filed a contempt of court petition. Following the petition, the HC summoned the two officials.
