UNB, Dhaka :
The High Court on Monday summoned Commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Benzir Ahmed, DC (police) of Lalbagh zone Harun-ur-Rashid and the OC of Lalbagh Police Station for
not complying with its order over constructing the boundary wall of Azimpur graveyard.
The court asked the trio to appear before it on September 10 to explain the matter.
An HC joint bench, comprising justice Sarah Mahbub and justice Muhammad Izharul Haq Akand, passed the order following hearing on a petition filed by lawyer Salahuddin on behalf of Dhaka City Corporation (South) authorities.
On August 1, 2013, the High Court ordered the authorities concerned to construct a boundary wall of Azimpur graveyard within three months following a petition filed by one Zakir Hossain.
The court also asked the DMP Commissioner to provide necessary assistance to the authorities concerned to comply with the court directive.
As the DMP Commissioner did not comply with the HC order, Zakir Hossain filed a contempt petition against him with the High Court.
