The High Court on Monday stayed for six months the final result of the assistant teacher recruitment process of the government primary schools of 14 districts published on December 24, 2019.
The districts are— Patuakhali, Madaripur, Sirajganj, Naogaon, Chapainawabganj, Habiganj, Mymensingh, Netrakona, Noakhali, Jashore, Satkhira, Tangail, Barguna and Thakurgaon.
The High Court Bench of Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Md Mahmud Hassan Talukder passed the order after hearing a writ petition filed by
46 candidates who were not selected in the published final result. The candidates filed the writ petition on Sunday (January 19) challenging the legality of the result as it was not published following the Section 7 of the rules of the primary teacher recruitment policy-2013 which clarifies the quota system.
Advocate Md Asad Uddin appeared in the court on behalf of the writ petitioner, while Deputy Attorney General Bipul Bagmar stood for the State.
After the court order, advocate Asad said, “60 percent of the vacant posts will be filled up by the female candidates, 20 percent by the dependent candidates and the rest of the posts by the male candidates as per Section 7 of the rules of the primary teacher recruitment policy-2013. But, the authorities didn’t follow the rules during publishing the latest result on December 24, 2019.”
Earlier, the High Court stayed the same result for some other districts, sources said.
On January 14, this year, the High Court issued a rule upon the respondents to explain in four weeks as to why the final result of the assistant teacher recruitment process of the government primary schools published on December 24, 2019, should not be declared illegal.
The High Court Bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman passed the order after hearing a writ petition filed by some applicants.
The court also wanted to know in the rule as to why the respondents should not be directed to publish a fresh result as per Section 7 of the rules of the primary teacher recruitment policy-2013 after cancelling the published result.
Primary Education Secretary, Director General of Directorate of Primary Education and other respondents have to comply with the rule within four weeks.
A total of 18,147 candidates have been qualified in the written tests for the post of assistant teachers at government primary schools. The results of the written examination were published on December 24, 2019, said a press release of Primary Education Department.
