The High Court Division of the Supreme Court on Tuesday stayed government decision to deduct marks from second time admission seekers, who are eager to get themselves admitted to Dental and Medical Colleges.
The High Court bench comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Jahangir Hossain passed the order yesterday.
The High Court also issued a rule asking the authorities concerned as to why the government’s decision to deduct five marks from second time admission seekers would not be declared ‘illegal’ and ‘unlawful’.
Health Secretary, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), and four others including the Director of Medical Education and Health Manpower Development under the Health Ministry and Chairman of Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) have been directed to respond to the rule within four weeks.
Earlier, on Monday the High Court fixed September 12 to pass order on the government decision after hearing the writ petition.
Advocate Eunus Ali Akond filed the petition with the High Court on August 27 against the government’s ‘discriminatory’ decision.
