Staff Reporter :
The High Court (HC) on Thursday issued a rule asking as to why action should not be taken against Coca-Cola for using “indecent and distorted words” in their advertisements.
The bench of Justice F R M Nazmul Ahasan and K M Kamrul Kader passed the rule in response to a writ petition filed by Supreme Court lawyer Md Moniruzzaman Rana.
In the petition, filed on February 27, Moniruzzaman challenged the legality of using “disputed” words like “Fafor”, “Para”, “Matha Nosto”, “Ghutibaj”, “Jinish” and “Asthir” in the advertisements of Coca-Cola in Bangladesh.
The advertisements of Coca-Cola were published and broadcast by both the print and electronic media, the lawyer said in the petition.
