HC rule to postpone recruit teachers in 3 departments at JU

The High Court (HC) on Wednesday issued a rule of asking the Jahangirnagar University (JU) authorities to postpone recruit teachers in its’ three departments for next six months.
A High Court bench of Justice Sheikh Hasan Arif and Razik Al Jalil passed the order after hearing a writ petition filed by former students of Government and Politics department of the university Gazi Ibrahim Al Mamun and Md Shahidul Islam.  
On November 8 in last year, an advertisement signed by JU Registrar Rahima Kaniz for recruiting teacher in three department including Archeology, Fine Arts and Government and Politics was published.
Every aspirants will have score first class in division method in SSC and HSC examination while score 4.25 for science and commerce group and GPA 4.00 for humanities group in grading system, the advertisement said.
However, a notification by Education Ministry of March 2 in 2010, GPA 3.00 was taken equivalent of first class in division system.
The HC asked the university authorities to postpone the recruitment of teachers according to the advertisement as they did not follow the notification of education ministry.
HC also asked Secretary of Education Ministry, Chairman of University Grant Commission, JU Vice Chancellor, Registrar and Chairman of Government and Politics to give explanation within four weeks.
On behalf of writ, Barrister Shihab Uddin Khan conducted the hearing.
Barrister Shihab Uddin Khan, ‘According to the notification of Education Ministry, our candidates are eligible to apply such type of post. But, JU authorities did not follow the notification by increasing the recruitment in SSC and HSC score.

This is illegal and we tried to draw attention of HC in this connection’.
However, this correspondent did not reach JU Vice-chancellor Prof Farzana Islam after taking several attempts in this regard.
When contacted JU acting registrar Rahima Kaniz said, “We are not informed now. We will take legal steps after getting the concerned papers.”
