High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh has issued rule against the reappointment and legality of holding post of chairman of CDA Abdus Salam for next term .
Following a writ by one Abu Sayed Chowdhury , a HC Bench comprising Justice Syed Refat Hossain and Justice Md. Selim issued rule on Secretary of Public administration Ministry, Secretary of Works Ministry and CDA Chairman asking reply to the rule why the assignment of CDA Chairman Abdus Salam will not be illegal and beyond the lawful authority within one week. Barrister Sakib Mahbub defended the plaintiff in the writ hearing, a sources said. Mentionable that Treasurer of Chittagong City AL Unit Abdus Salam was assigned as CDA chairman for two years contract on April 23, 2009 for two years term but his contract was renewed for more three terms which is supposed to be expired on April 22 next.
The writ was also mentioned that Housing and Works Minister sent a DO letter to the Public Administration Ministry on March 22 loast to extend the period of more one term , a reliable sources said. Counsel of the writ petitioner told the media that as per CDA ordinance of 1969, none can assign the post of Chairman for not more than two terms but incumbent Chairman is holding the post for four terms.
