The High Court (HC) on Sunday rejected a writ petition filed by suspended BNP-backed Khulna City Corporation (KCC) elected Mayor Moniruzzaman Moni challenging the government decision of his suspension.
An HC bench comprising by Justice Tariqul Hakim and Justice Farid Ahmed Shibli passed the order after hearing the writ petition.
Advocate Kamrul Islam Siddiqui stood for Moni while Deputy Attorney General Amatul Karim appeared for the state.
Following the order, Moni told reporters that after discussion with his lawyers, he will take decision whether to move the Supreme Court.
Earlier on November 02, the government suspended BNP-supported Khulna City Corporation (KCC) elected Mayor Moniruzzaman Moni as he had been charged with criminal offences. Later he filed the writ petition with the HC on November 15.
