The High Court (HC) on Tuesday rejected a revision petition filed by Parliament Member of Tangail-3 Constituency Amanur Rahman Khan Rana, challenging a lower court order that framed
charges against him in freedom fighter Faruk Ahmed murder case. The lower court can continue the trial proceedings against Amanur Rahman, said lawyer.
The HC bench of Justice Mohammad Shawkat Hossain and Justice Nazrul Islam Talukder passed the order after Rana’s lawyer Advocate Hedayet Kabir Khan prayed to the court to reject the petition considering that it was not properly submitted to the High Court.
In the petition, he also prayed to the High Court seeking a stay order on the trial proceedings of the case.
There is no legal bar for the trial court to continue the trial of Faruk Ahmed murder case following the High Court order, Deputy Attorney General A K M Jahid Sarwar Kajol told the journalists.
