The High Court on Monday questioned the legality of a lower court order that granted bail to JMI Hospital Requisite Manufacturing Ltd’s Chairman Abdur Razzak in connection with a case filed over supplying fake N-95 masks for the use of healthcare professionals.
The HC issued a rule asking the respondents to explain as to why the lower court order granting bail to Abdur Razzak should not be cancelled.
The court fixed December 13 for hearing of the rule.
The HC Bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Ahmed Sohel came up with the rule following a revision petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), challenging the lower court order that granted bail to Razzak in the case.
Lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan appeared for the ACC, while Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik represented the state and Advocates MK Rahman and SM Shahjahan argued for Razzak.
On October 15 this year, a Senior Special Judge’s Court of Dhaka granted bail to Abdur Razzak in the case.
The ACC on September 29 this year arrested Abdur Razzak from Segunbagicha area of the capital.
